Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland, England, form a premier attraction combining a 900-year-old historic fortress with innovative, contemporary landscape design. The castle is famed as a filming location for Hogwarts in Harry Potter, while the adjacent garden features the renowned Poison Garden, massive water cascades, and a sprawling treehouse. 

Alnwick Castle (Inhabited Fortress)

• History & Family: Known as the second largest inhabited castle in the UK, it has been the home of the Percy family (Dukes of Northumberland) since 1309.
• Harry Potter & Media: The castle grounds were used for exterior shots of Hogwarts, particularly for flying scenes in the first two films.
• Activities: Offers broomstick flying lessons, historical tours of state rooms, Falconry, and medieval crafts.
• Architecture: A mix of medieval stonework and opulent, restored interiors. 

The Alnwick Garden (Modern Horticultural Gem) 

• The Poison Garden: A secure, guided-tour-only area containing roughly 100 toxic and narcotic plants (e.g., Belladonna, hemlock), designed for education.
• Grand Cascade: A large, central water feature with 120 jets designed to create a “dancing” water effect.
• Serpent & Bamboo Gardens: Interactive water features and a dark maze for exploration.
• Treehouse: A massive, sustainable restaurant and event space built into the trees.
• Cherry Orchard: Known for its spring blossom and 50+ swings

The majority of trips return from destination between 16:30 and 17:30. The driver will inform you of the exact time on the day, dependant on outward travel times. Whilst we do not guarantee a W/C on board most of our excursion fleet do have toilet facilities. For your comfort we allocate seating at time of booking, however reserve the right to alter or amend your seat allocation for utilisation purposes.
